Double Gold For Joyce at Hampshire Trials

Fifteen year old Howard Joyce exceeded all expectations by winning GOLD in not only the Junior under-16 category, but also GOLD in the Senior category at under 60kg, winning all 6 of his fights with positive attacking judo. He has now qualified to represent Hampshire at the forthcoming Inter-Counties Team Championships, to be held in Worthing on Sunday 8th May.

Also competing in the Junior category, at under 55kg, was Lewis Bourgaize, who won 3 of his 6 bouts to secure a well deserved  and hard earned BRONZE medal. Bourgaize still has another 2 years in the Junior category and this result bodes well for the future.

Later in the day, in the Senior under 81kg category, Louis Plevin won 4 of his 5 bouts to earn a SILVER medal.

These results at the Hampshire Closed are a testament to the hard work and dedication of not only these three members of the Guernsey Judo Club, but reflects on all who are hoping to compete in the Island Games 2019 in Gibraltar.
